Executive Director - Santa Maria Senior Citizens Home Inc., Emmanuel Health

Kelly is an applied health services and policy researcher with an interest in quality (and safety!) improvement, governance, accountability, and reform initiatives within the publicly funded health system. She has been involved in various audits, investigations, evaluations, and utilization studies along the continuum of care.

She recently moved into administration to work as Executive Director of an Emmanuel Health home, Santa Maria. Here, she applies her policy and research knowledge and her passion for quality care for the elderly. She previously worked for the provincial auditor (helping teams examine the management and organization of health and social services programs), the provincial ombudsman (studying fairness in the design and administration of public policy); the Ministry of Health (as a Senior Policy Analyst in the Policy and Planning Branch and a Research Consultant in the Population Health Branch); the Heartland Health Region (as Manager of Corporate Research); and the Health Quality Council and its predecessor, the Health Services Utilization and Research Commission (as a Research Officer).

Kelly Chessie holds a Bachelor's degree in psychology (St. Thomas University), a Master's degree in applied social psychology (U of Saskatchewan), and a PhD in interdisciplinary studies (U of Saskatchewan).
