Programs & Services

Saskatchewan Association for Safe Workplaces in Health (SASWH) has worked collaboratively with industry stakeholders to develop provincial Safety Management System (SMS) standards that support the needs of the Saskatchewan health care industry.

It has been proven that the use of a Safety Management System (SMS) decreases the risk of a workplace related injury or illness.  SASWH has developed specific training programs and services that support all six of the elements. Below all six elements are listed.  The matrix chart also shows how each of our education/training programs support each element(s).  You will notice that each program aligns with one or more of the six SMS elements.

SASWH continues to offer assessment, consultation and guidance for all our Services, Programs and Resources.

Safety Management System (SMS): The Six Elements

  1. Management and Leadership
  2. Hazard Identification and Control
  3. Training and Communications
  4. Inspections
  5. Reporting and Investigation
  6. Emergency Response
