Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Education and awareness regarding the appropriate donning and doffing of personal protective equipment (PPE) assists with increasing the safety of the healthcare environment. Saskatchewan’s Occupational Health and Safety Regulations, 1996, Regulation 12(c) states the employer is responsible to provide information, instruction training and supervision necessary to protect the health and safety of workers at work.

Furthermore, under Saskatchewan’s OH&S legislation, every worker has the Right to Know, the Right to Refuse an act or series of acts where the worker has reasonable grounds to believe that it is unusually dangerous.

SASWH has made available the following resources for its members:

Specific Resources:

*These materials have been approved as the Provincial Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) documentation to support employers in their planning and preparedness for the potential of Ebola Virus Disease (EVD) in Saskatchewan.

Safety Talks

A Safety Talk is a two to five minute “talk” on a safety related topic. It’s a quick safety “huddle”. The manager, supervisor or someone who is knowledgeable on the subject matter can lead the Safety Talk. SASWH has a variety of Safety Talks developed for you to use and some you can customize with information specific to your facility or area.  Providing Safety Talks aligns with the Safety Management System Element 3: Training and Communications (3.4).
