SASWH Membership Requirements

Did You Know...

Healthcare employers that fall under the Saskatchewan WCB G22 rate code are automatically members of SASWH, and can access the association's safety training programs, resources, and other services at low to no cost.  Non-members may participate in programs for a fee, and a reduced fee is available for students registered in recognized post-secondary healthcare programs. More information can be found in the Programs & Services Guide.

Saskatchewan’s Occupational Health and Safety Regulations require workplaces to establish and maintain an Occupational Health & Safety Committee (OHC). A proactive OHC is essential in recognizing health and safety concerns and recommending strategies to correct or reduce risks.

All workplace hazards are preventable and can be identified with a comprehensive workplace inspection. Inspections are the most effective tool for preventing illness and injury. Employers, supervisors, and OHC members are responsible for ensuring hazards are identified and addressed.

A Job Safety Analysis (JSA) is a valuable tool for identifying hazards related to specific work tasks and determining necessary control measures to reduce risks to employees. Safe work practices are an essential component of a Safety Management System.

IPAC resources are focused on prevention, preparedness, and planning regarding infection control practices for personal care, group, and residential homes across Saskatchewan. SASWH’s IPAC consultant is available to provide advice and support to home operators in Saskatchewan.

The Workplace Violence Prevention program can assist healthcare employers in reducing injury rates, increasing employee and patient well-being, and building a strong culture of safety in the workplace.

Resources are available to assist school divisions with creating safer workplaces through the application of the Safety Management System.  All documents and resources are compliant with Saskatchewan’s legislative requirements.
